Borakalalo National Park and Conference Centre Overview

Borakalalo National Park is situated in the North West Province, a comfortable 2 hours drive away from northern Johannesburg. The last town you pass through on the way to Borakalalo is Brits (60km away), so this is the place to stop for anything you may have forgotten to bring along with you!

The name " Borakalalo" means "place where people relax", and this is exactly what you can do in this wilderness environment. The main activities here are walking or driving through the forested areas along the Moretele River and the Acacia woodlands, as well as fishing in the large Klipvoor Dam. And of course, after a busy day, there is nothing more pleasurable than relaxing back in Moretele or Phudufudu Camp to sit around a campfire and discuss the day's activities.

Moretele Tented Camp:

This camp has an exciting Safari atmosphere, being located within the Acacia thickets along the Moretele River and with only paraffin lamps to hold the darkness at bay! There are 10 safari tents permanently pitched here. These are fully equipped, except that you need to bring your own towels, crockery and cutlery. A campsite is also available for those who want to pitch their own tents or bring their own caravans. Moretele is conveniently situated close to the Klipvoor Dam, where the fishing is superb - especially at the right time of the year!

Phudufudu Tented Camp and Conference Centre: Phudufudu is perhaps a little more "sophisticated" than Moretele, because it has electricity, a conference centre, dining room and a swimming pool, and 4 of the 10 tents are luxury tents. There is also a kitchen in which you can prepare your own food - no chef's are provided ! This is a great venue for a conference, because it has all the facilities to ensure a successful meeting, whilst at the same time allowing delegates to "get away from it all" in genuine African bushveld surroundings.
